3. PTSD in Children: Move in the Rhythm of the Child

Youth Today: The Newspaper on Youth Work.

“This third tape in a series explains the symptoms, circumstances and therapeutic techniques for children with post-traumatic stress disorder. Geared towards counselors and caretakers, the video quietly emphasizes the spiritual aspect of coping strategies while offering sound advice on short-term, long-term and psychopharmacological therapy as well as the extenuating circumstances of treating PTSD in some inner city children.

The video is based upon the work of Dr. Frank Ochberg, a professor of psychiatry at Michigan State University, and interviews with therapists and counselors who have dealt with the children with PTSD. Highly recommended.”

DVD Review3. PTSD in Children: Move in the Rhythm of the ChildVideo Review from The Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute“Looking for an excellent videotape to facilitate your mission of identification and treatment of traumatized and particularly abused children? PTSD in Children is such
a videotape. It is well-organized, articulate and sensitive to the therapeutic needs of children who are victims of various types of time-limited, as opposed to chronic
trauma and/or neglect. Five noted PTSD specialists which include Frank Ochberg, Carl Bell, Kathleen Nader, Erwin Parson and Angelea Panos present the most
current information on the study of PTSD in children and its relevance in our communities. This videotape is an excellent teaching tool for all individuals involved in the
“helping professions,” whose lives are dedicated to the resolution of traumatic experience. Specifically, therapists, social workers, school personnel, health
professionals, and all member of community “critical incident” teams, would benefit from viewing this presentation. Kudos are in order for the presenters, who
donated their time, and the Dart Foundation, who provided the funding for this work. This video receives a “two-thumbs-up” recommendation.”Paula K. Lundberg-Love, Ph.D. Professor of Psychology, University of Texas @ Tyler.
