Lexis

Perhaps our family our friends hear it, perhaps they do not. The wounds of suffering in silent desperation are difficult to hear when those around us do not wish to pay attention to us, to hear our truth. However, what if your heart could whisper to theirs, and shatter the silence, what would your lexis be, would you express your pain in a method never articulated before or would your words, your confidence, your well kept secrets thicken into a miasma? Would the spectral images of your past flood back through every vessel in your brain to haunt you and keep those you love from hearing the grief you carry in your heart, in your soul, in every unraveled fragment of your being?

It is difficult at best to express what we feel and think about those who inflict immeasurable, terrifying abuse, and trauma upon us to our circle of family and friends. However, the pain we carry today will in due course help others to understand that there is a power greater than we are, that one day we will all soar together again with that power in peace, whole and no longer imprisoned within ourselves or by our wounds. This promise I have found I can live with and patiently wait for.

A Sea of Memories

My Brain overflowing with
Expressions and actions
End to end
Dispirited and
Shrouded in fright,
A sea of agony muted the joy.
Yet,
I chose to believe
I would live,
To someday behold the light.

Of wonderous strength and grace
The heart of a tree is perfect
Its branches may be broken
But it never knows disgrace.
And the tree sees, with fond surprise
The sought expression shine –
For a tear from the beholder’s eye
Has made the tree divine.
